Questions

Am I registered? Where do I vote?

Use the free state lookup above. Type your first and last name and county (Mecklenburg). It shows whether you are registered, your address on file, your Election Day polling place, and your sample ballot.

Can I vote early at any site?

Yes. During early voting (through Saturday, October 31) any registered Mecklenburg County voter can vote at ANY of the 25 early voting sites. On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, you must vote at your own assigned polling place.

I'm not registered, or I moved. Can I still vote?

Yes, during early voting only. North Carolina allows same-day registration at early voting sites through October 31. Bring proof of where you live, like a NC driver's license, a utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck with your name and current address. Same-day registration is NOT available on Election Day.

What ID do I need?

North Carolina asks voters to show a photo ID, such as a NC driver's license or state ID, a U.S. passport, a military or veterans ID, or an approved student or employee ID. An expired ID may still work in some cases. If you do not have one, you can still vote: fill out an ID Exception Form at the polling place. Check the state's Voter ID page for the full list.

I can't stand in line or walk far.

Every site offers curbside voting for voters who are unable to enter the building. Tell us when you request your ride and your driver can help you use curbside voting.

I have an absentee ballot at home.

It must be RECEIVED by the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections by 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3. You can also hand it in at any early voting site. Request a ride and we will take you to drop it off.

Does the ride cost anything?

No. Rides are free, offered by volunteers from the church family. We do not ask who you are voting for, and drivers will not discuss candidates or parties.
